The PSC is operated by Conoco Warim BV, part of the international Conoco group, which currently has a 100% interest. The acreage straddles the same thrust and foldbelt in the Papuan Basin which extends from Papua New Guinea, where the Kutubu and Gobe oil fields are located, into Irian Jaya.

Why was PNG splits from Indonesia?

When did Indonesia invade West Papua?
At the end of 1961, West Papua held a Congress at which its people declared independence, and raised their new flag – the Morning Star. But within months the dream was dead. The Indonesian government wanted all of the former Dutch colonies in the Asia-Pacific region and the Indonesian military soon invaded West Papua.
