HONOLULU —The Pride of Maui, a company that offers snorkel tours and cruises, has recently announced it will no longer allow the use of full-face snorkel masks on its catamarans due to safety concerns. A traditional mask has a mask covering the eyes and nose, and a separate breathing tube connected to the mouth.

You can’t breathe underwater with a full face snorkelling mask. Plus, very few full face snorkelling masks are designed to be used underwater. They are only intended to be used on the surface. You shouldn’t be doing any one breath apnea diving with a full face snorkelling mask.
