Can you remove a Keensert?
It is unlikely that a Keensert will ever have to be removed. Use standard drill. Deflect KEES inward and break off. Remove insert with E-Z OUT type tool.
How does a locking insert work?
The insert locking configuration comprises a series of uniquely designed locking chords which, upon the engagement of a screw or bolt, deflect radially to permit the installation of the bolt. Upon bolt entry, these straight segments are flexed outwardly, creating pressure on the bolt.
What is a keen sert?
A Keensert is a solid threaded bushing-style insert that is available in standard dimension metric and inch sizes. The insert is provided with keys that lock the insert to the workpiece during installation. As supplied, the locking keys are initially located in the extended position as shown here.

- Drill the stripped hole per manufacturer’s recommendation.
- Tap the drilled hole with the tap specified in the helicoil kit.
- Apply LOCTITE® 2620™ Threadlocker into the helicoil.
- Insert the helicoil into your freshly tapped hole.
What keeps a helicoil in place?
HeliCoils do not require thread sealants or thread locker in order retain the insert, but if you feel the need to use sealant or thread locker, a light coating may be applied to the outer threads, making sure the inner threads are clean. Once installed, HeliCoil inserts are very reliable and trustworthy.
How do you install a keensert?
Install the Keensert by screwing it into the new thread. You can do this by hand, but by using the installation tool, you will be sure that the Keensert is inserted sufficiently. Keensert installation instructions – step 4. Drive in the kees of the Keensert with the installation tool.
Are all keensert products created in the same manor?
All Keensert are created in the same manor, which means that the Keensert installation instructions and Keensert removal instructions apply to all Keensert products.
How do you remove a keensert from a floor?
Deflect the freed kees inwards and break them off. Remove the Keensert by the means of a EZ-out tool or similar tool. An identical Keensert as the removed one can now be installed in the original hole. No re-work is required in order to install the Keensert in place.
