What does a 4×4 Posi Lock do?

4×4 Posi-Lok is simple and easy to install and allows you to engage your front axle from inside the cab. After engaging the transfer case, a one-inch pull of the 4×4 Posi-Lok cable ensures the front axles are connected. This system puts the driver in direct control of the 4-wheel drive front axle engagement.

How do you engage a Posi Lock?

Engagement: Relax the throttle – no acceleration or deceleration. Shift the transfer case to desired 4×4 mode. Press the button and pull the cable into full engaged position. (Light on-off throttle action while pulling on the handle will help align gears for smooth engagement.)

How does 4×4 Posi-Lok work?

4×4 Posi-Lok replaces the vacuum actuator with a cable operated actuator that puts the driver in control of the engagement from inside the cab. After engaging the transfer case, a one inch pull of the 4×4 Posi-Lok cable connects the right front axle to the intermediate shaft using the shift collar and fork, and 4-wheel drive is engaged!

How do you test a Posi Lok?

Re-install the front tire and tighten lug nuts. Now it is time to test the Posi-Lok. Turn the ignition to the ON position and engage the 4wd lever. Now gently, but firmly pull the T-Handle of the Posi-Lok out about an inch and twist into the locking position.
