With a message on his social networks, Tamaulipas golfer announced his resignation from the PGA Tour to join the Series, the new tour financed by Saudi Arabia.

“It is after careful consideration that I have decided to join the LIV Series. It is not a decision taken lightly, I am very grateful to the PGA Tour for the opportunities they have provided me in my career thus far. I am looking forward to new opportunities.” opportunities in golf”, published the Mexican, who joined figures such as Dustin Johnson, Sergio García, Phil Mickelson and many more.

The new tour began to take shape years ago, however it was not until 2022 that important figures began to see it as an option due to the large bags to be distributed (25 million dollars for each event) and the number of tournaments in its calendar, much smaller than that of the PGA Tour.

“As a passionate entrepreneur, I am excited about my projects outside of the golf course. In addition, this new opportunity gives me more time to invest and help grow this sport that we are so passionate about in our country, Mexico. As a child growing up in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, I never would have imagined being in this position today and I am very excited for what is to come,” he added.

Abraham Ancer, who was recently unable to play the US Open for health reasons, is expected to return to the grass on June 30 to play the LIV Golf Series in Portland.

El Turco represented Mexico at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, in which he finished in 14th position and has two important victories in the professional arena. The first in 2018 at the Australian Open and the second at the World Golf Championship in 2021.
