CANCUN, Q. ROO.- Brazilian Alex Pereira will have his first test against a Top 5 middleweight when he faces Sean Strickland on the main card of UFC 276.

The former kickboxing champion will try to extend his success in mixed martial arts, but first he must stop a specialist in wrestling and ranged combat.

‘Poatan’ Pereira was a kickboxing champion at the ‘Glory’ promotion before making his transition to mixed martial arts. The fighter was signed by the UFC in September of last year, with the legend of being the only one to have knocked out middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in the past.

Against Strickland, the Brazilian will have his third fight inside the octagon, where he has achieved two victories, in November 2021 he knocked out Andreas Michailidis with a knee in the second round and in March of this year, he defeated Bruno Silva by unanimous decision.

His rival is the American and Top 4 middleweight Sean Strickland. The American has more experience in MMA and in the UFC he boasts six consecutive victories.

The fighter has shown that he is durable with four wins by decision and two by knockout, so he will try to stop Pereira’s rise at UFC 276, which will take place in Las Vegas.
