The Brazilian side Dani Alves, footballer with the most titles in history, ruled out this Saturday that signing for the Pumas UNAM of Mexican football is crazy as has been said, since for him “football means much more than just kicking the ball “.
“The fact of coming here for many can be crazy, but for me football means much more than just kicking the ball, running after it or studying tactics. Football for me is not only a sport, it has transformed my life and I want it to continue transforming the lives of many other young people and people”, he explained in his presentation as a new feline player.
Alves arrived in Mexico City last Friday, but it was not until this Saturday that he met his new teammates at the Pumas after passing the physical tests and signing his contract with the seven-time league champion team.
The three-time champion of the European Champions League with the Spanish Barcelona admitted that the fact that the Pumas are a team that is characterized by training and giving opportunity to young talents was one of the reasons that seduced him to sign with one of the four teams with more fans in Mexico.
“I am a person who, beyond football, the achievements I have in my career, I am a person who likes to leave a legacy to younger people, who can fight for what they dream of. Here is living proof that everything in life it is possible, I come from a small town, but rich in all aspects where people come out with a hunger for success, “he added.
The Brazilian national team in the World Cups South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 said that another of the things that made him opt for the Pumas was that it is the team that represents the Autonomous University of Mexico, the most important in the country, in Mexican football.
“That is why I have accepted the challenge of coming here to Pumas, because the university is the union of society, where everyone can dream, no matter how much is in the account. The university is made so that people can achieve what they dream of, can interact with the different social positions that exist in the world today,” he said.
The Pumas will visit Pachuca this Sunday on the fourth day of the Apertura 2022 tournament, however, Alves is expected to debut with the university shirt until next Wednesday when the felines receive Mazatlán FC at their home, the University Olympic Stadium, on the fifth date.
