Amir Khan’s wife has shared CCTV footage of the men who stole her husband’s watch at gunpoint.

Faryal Makhdoom, 30, shared video of a pair of hooded people taking Khan’s diamond-encrusted watch in Leyton, East London, on an Instagram story.

The veteran boxer is then robbed of his £72,000 Franck Muller Vanguard Chronograph watch before escaping. Makhdoom wrote in his post: “Two men getting out of the car…they knew exactly what time we left. Seems cheating to me, considering we didn’t even post where we were. It makes my stomach churn to know that someone sitting in the restaurant was probably the one who planned this.”

In a subsequent post, Khan’s wife posted the watch’s serial number to her story in an attempt to “find out who did this.” Meanwhile, Khan told his followers that he and his wife were unharmed.

He wrote on Twitter: “My watch was just taken at gunpoint in East London, Leyton.

“I crossed the street with Faryal, luckily she was a few steps behind me. Two men ran up to me, she asked me for my watch while pointing a gun at my face. The main thing is that we are both safe.”

Just hours earlier, Khan was photographed with a fan on Oxford Street wearing his diamond-encrusted 719 watch.

A witness told The Sun that the Bolton-born fighter was clearly left shaking. They said, “’They weren’t hanging around. They got straight into the car and fled. Amir had enjoyed a nice evening with his wife and had been shopping earlier in the day. He raises real fears that he was a deliberate target. He is extremely serious. He was absolutely terrified.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 9.15pm on Monday 18th April to High Road, Leyton.

“A man in his 30s is alleged to have been approached by two men who threatened him with a firearm before stealing his watch and fleeing. There were no reports of shots or injuries. Police responded and conducted a search of the area. At this early stage there have been no arrests. An investigation has started and the police are following up a series of inquiries.”

Khan and Makhdoom married in 2013 and have three children, Lamisah, Muhammad and Alayna.
