More than a year has passed since his retirement from professional activity and the now former midfielder, Antonio Valencia, says that his decision “was correct” because he no longer “enjoyed” football due to the injuries that afflicted him.

In May 2021, the Amazon Expreso announced that he was leaving football, while playing for Querétaro in Mexico, after a brilliant career in which he was a figure and captain of Manchester United in England, one of the clubs considered great at the European level and the world.

“The decision (to retire) was the right one because I was no longer enjoying something that I like, that I love. He came home in pain, at night he couldn’t sleep, the pill he was taking had no effect, “said Valencia.

“Then I said to myself: “I already suffered to arrive and now do it to retire, then it is no longer going”. I made the decision with my wife. It’s sad, because it’s something (soccer) that one loves, that is in the day to day and overnight making that decision is hard, “added the former midfielder in conversation with the digital program DiverGente.

Valencia, 37, thanked God and his family for the step he took and now says he feels happy with his club: AV 25.

“I am happy with these boys, I want them to learn how little or how much I learned, they have given me life. Leaving football overnight is a bit complicated. I had a comedown,” she commented.

Regarding the team he has, he points out that he is not in “a hurry” regarding promotion and that his dream is to have a complex for his training.

“We are not in trouble, we are calm, working, the only dream is to reach the second category, hopefully it goes well for us, that we can reach the league and the other objective is to have a complex, because it is the most complicated thing we have ever had” , he indicated.

“We have had (to be) in about six courts, we have gone to one and trained for a few months, then to another and it has not been easy. The important thing is to ascend and have a complex of your own, ”he concluded (D)
