The international boxing tournament between teenagers and schoolchildren ended in the Romanian city of Gheorgheni.

’s national team won 3 gold and 4 silver medals in the tournament, in which 212 athletes from 12 countries participated, AZERTAC reports.

2 from the Azerbaijani team, led by Aghasi Mammadov, won the champion title. In the tournament, the leader of the 54 kg category, Muhammedali Ashiraliyev, faced Florin Caldararu (Romania) in the final and climbed to the top of the podium with a conclusive 5:0 victory.

Mohammedali Gasimzade (57 kg) repeated his partner’s success in the final. The winner of the European championship faced the Bulgarian Victory Iliev in the decisive match. With 5:0 the Azerbaijani boxer won first place in the tournament.

Taghi Nasibov (50 kg), who lost in the final, came in second place. In the women’s national team, under the guidance of senior coach Yadigar Mammadov, Emily Rzayeva (70 kg) was ahead of all her rivals. She defeated the Romanian Maria Tanasescu in the final. Aysu Ismayilova (46 kg), Narmin Alizade (50 kg) and Aynur Mikayilova (52 kg) completed the tournament with silver medals for the Azerbaijani team.

Thus, the national team of Azerbaijan, which participated in the competition with 8 boxers, finished the tournament with 7 medals.
