Enea Bastianini couldn’t expect anything better from his first Grand Prix in the MotoGP World Championship. This Sunday in Losail, the young man from Avintia Esponsorama, aboard an outdated Ducati Desmosedici, recovered little by little to finish in tenth position, just over two seconds behind Jack Miller, who was ninth with a factory Ducati.

And the result of the Moto2 world champion did not go unnoticed. And it is the first time since 2019 that a rookie finishes his debut race in MotoGP within the top ten. The last to debut in the top ten before Bastianini were Alex Rins and Jonas Folger in 2017 and Joan Mir in 2019.

And finishing the first MotoGP race in the top ten in the service of a satellite team is even rarer: besides Bastianini, Rins and Folger, only ten others have done it since the start of the MotoGP era in 2002.
