Oaxacan boxers Elmer Ulises Miranda López and Gerardo Chávez Méndez will gather at the Centro Deportivo Olímpico Mexicano (CDOM) starting on January 15, heading to the Continental Championship in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to be held in March 2022.

The medalists in the Elite National Championship, which took place last November in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Elmer Miranda and Gerardo Chávez, were summoned by the Mexican Boxing Federation (FMB) to comply with the process that will define the tricolor team that will participate in the continental contest.

Elmer Miranda, an elite category in the 57 kilogram division, belongs to the stable of the Domadores gym in Oaxaca; while Gerardo Chávez, elite in more than 92 kilograms, is a boxer from the Púgil gym.

The president of the Oaxacan Boxing Association, Elmer Miranda Parra, reported that during the concentration of the national shortlisted, the technical commission of the Mexican Boxing Federation will make an evaluation in mid-February to define the Mexican team that will participate in the Continental Championship of Boxing Guayaquil 2022.

In another vein, Elmer Miranda Parra announced that during the dual meet that took place between the Guerrero and Oaxaca teams, the Oaxacan boxer Edgar Pinacho Cornejo captured the spotlight.

Last weekend in the Port of Acapulco, Guerrero, boxers from Guerrero and Oaxaca met in a dual blank meet, in preparation for the 2022 State, Regional, National and Olympic Festival Championships.

The Oaxacan team that traveled to the Port of Acapulco was made up of 95 fighters from the different gyms affiliated with the state association.

In the dual meet there were several Oaxacan boxers who had an outstanding performance, among them, some students of professors Sergio Zarco Chirino, Eduardo González and Cuban José Luis González, but who stood out for his outstanding performance in the ring of Edgar Pinacho, category junior (15-16 years old), in the 54 kilogram division, who belongs to the Domadores de Oaxaca gym.
