Boxer Gervonta Davis gives back to the community as he prepares for his next event on December 5 against Mexican boxer Isaac Cruz.
On Tuesday, the 27-year-old American boxer was seen giving away around 150 turkeys, shopping gift cards and other Thanksgiving Day donations to residents of the Las Vegas community.
Davis says this kind of generosity reminds him of when he was getting help as a kid during the holidays.
“It’s always great to be able to lend a hand and help. I was always looking for someone to help me when I was a kid, so being able to do it means a lot to me. “

Originally from Baltimore, he didn’t get a chance to enjoy traditional holiday celebrations, but says that thanks to the professional position he is in today, he can help his loved ones live this experience.

“When I was a kid I didn’t have the whole family together to celebrate Thanksgiving, but now I have my two young daughters and I’m definitely excited about the holidays. I will miss Thanksgiving for the fight, but Christmas will be great this year. “

Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe says Davis is taking advantage of Thanksgiving to return the love to his fans who have helped him get to where they are today.

“Gervonta is extremely grateful to be able to be where he is now, helping so many people. He’s also thankful and appreciative of the way fans gravitate towards him, and he wants to return that affection to those less fortunate. When one is in his position, gratitude must be eternal. “

In less than two weeks, Davis and Cruz will face off for the WBA lightweight title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, presented live on Showtime PPV on Sunday, December 5.
