MArtn Molina, Adrin Thiam and Jos Quiles secured the first medals for the Spanish team at the European Boxing Championships being played in Yerevan, after qualifying this Friday for the semifinals of their respective weights.
The first to do so was Martn Molina in the flyweight (-51), who clearly prevailed over the current local champion of Europe and the first favourite, the Armenian Artur Hovhannisyan, whom he beat on points (5-0).
José Quiles also entered with authority in the light weight semifinals (-60 kilos), after defeating Montenegrin Edin Alkovic (5-0) with a unanimous decision by the judges. Olympic in Tokyo 2020, Quiles was already a bronze medalist at the 2017 European Championships in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov.
The third Spanish medal was secured by Adrin Thiam in the lightweight (-63.5 kg), with the same solvency as his teammates, by beating (5-0) the Ukrainian Taroslav Khartsyz, third seeded in the category.
