Scar Rivas lifts the champion belt.
ANDThis Friday, the Colombian boxer scar Rivas became champion of the World Boxing Council in the Bridger category. He did so after an intense fight in Montreal against Canadian Ryan Rozicki, who gave more fight than expected.
Rivas was about to get a knockout in the first of the 12 agreed rounds. However, when the Canadian was about to go to the canvas, the bell was to save him at the last moment.
From there, Rozicki gathered her strength and was able to stand despite the great damage to her face that produced the strength of the Colombian. If there was a point of improvement for Rivas it was his state of form, as he was tired from the fifth round and had to resort to hugging his rival on several occasions.
Although the referee took a point from Rivas during the last round, the victory was overwhelming on the scorecards thanks to the unanimous concept of the judges. The cards were read with scores 116-111, 115-112 and 115-112. Colombia has a new world champion in a category that has just started.
