The growth of sponsorships of sports betting houses in Brazilian soccer is remarkable. In a recent column published in the section Radar of the Veja Magazinehighlight the progress of this modality.
Regarding the exposure of the brand on the club shirts, no one beats Brazil when it comes to bookmaker sponsorship. In the country, 19 of the 20 Serie A clubs have some kind of association with companies in this segment. The only one that does not follow the rule is Palmeiras; which, however, has a sponsor in the women’s team.
After Brazil the Portuguese League has 16 sponsored teams on the shirts, among its 18 participants. And in the English Premier League, 8 of the 20 teams have associations. For its part, Ligue 1 (France) has 6 of 20 clubs, and in Argentina, 6 of the 28 teams they present partnerships with gambling houses.
At the other end, the German Bundesliga, the Spanish League and the Italian Calcio do not have teams with brands from companies in this segment, since these countries apply rules that reduce their participation in football. The same, they calculate, could happen in England.
“This growth in Brazil is due to the conjunction of some factors: the arrival of the PIX, the digitization forced by the pandemic and the loss of sponsorships from some sectors, by many football clubs.“, he claimed Ricardo Bianco Rosada, CMO of Galera.bet.
Although with the potential regularization of betting companies in the country, rumors abound that only licensed companies could sponsor soccer teams. “I think that if this happens, the number of bookmakers tends to decrease. We are experiencing an upward cycle, which should be even more virtuous with regulation, and the formalization of a responsible gaming policy in the country,” added the executive.
