Atheyna Bylon won the silver medal at the Women’s Elite Boxing World Championship, in the -75kg category, against Tammara Thibeault from Canada.

Bylon faced a difficult rival in the final as was Thibeault, who took the victory by split decision 4-1, where the judges saw the Canadian win, 30-27, 27-30, 30-27, 30- 27 and 29-28.

In the event that took place at the Istanbul Basaksehir and Youth Center in Turkey, the Panamanian boxer completed 3 victories, against Poland, Turkey and France, and a defeat in the final against Canada.

In addition, Atheyna becomes the first female athlete from Panama to win two medals in world championships with one gold and one silver, an achievement that marks a great feat for the country’s sports history.
