The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, gave his support to the celebration in the country of several professional boxing cards between boxers from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, presented by the former six-time world champion in four categories, the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.
The companies Miguel Cotto Promotions, owned by the expeller, and Sansur Boxing Promotions, of the Dominican resident in Puerto Rico, Miguel Sansur, will carry out a series of billboards in Dominican territory, the first of which will be held on February 26 in Higüey, province La Altagracia, where Sansur is a native.
“Puerto Rico is our neighbor friend, so we are going to work together, we are going to push boxing together,” Camacho said upon receiving Cotto and Sansur, who were accompanied by Brian Pérez and Héctor Soto.
Minister Camacho added, “our thing is to promote the sport with fair play,” while the National Boxing Commissioner, Ramón Valdez, accompanied him.
The dates of the remaining billboards are set for May 21, August 6 and November 12 to come.
“We are going to take advantage (of quality), both from the boxers of Puerto Rico, as well as those of the Dominican Republic,” Camacho said.
Cotto thanked Minister Camacho for receiving and announced support and promised to offer quality events. “We will do our best to bring quality events for the enjoyment and delight of Dominicans,” said the legendary Puerto Rican athlete.
The first of the billboard will be able to be seen by cable channels of Higüey and Puerto Rico, as well as by the YouTube channel of both companies. In the coming weeks, the cities in the country that will host the other evenings will be announced.
