Aattractive promises to be the boxing festival that will take place tonight at the “José Peric Slater” gym of the Sports Confederation and that will mark the official return of the sport of fists in Punta Arenas after a year of inactivity at a competitive level as a result of the pandemic.

The day, which will have Chilean boxers face to face against Argentines starring in nine fights, will begin at around 9:00 p.m. with a heartfelt posthumous tribute to Manuel Gallegos Alvarez, the trainer and leader from Natal who trained generations of boxers for decades, earning a transversal respect for everything he gave to this discipline.

Let us remember that Don Manuel passed away on December 30 as a result of respiratory failure at the age of 97, leaving a valuable legacy after dedicating more than 80 years to the activity, first as a boxer and then as a national coach and manager.

The main event of the evening will be the clash between the Chilean champion and Olympic medalist Miguel Angel Véliz and the credit of the Argentine province of Santa Fe, Omar Villanueva. Véliz has been in our regional capital for several days carrying out various activities related to this discipline.

The semifund will be in charge of the Chilean and South American junior champion Kim Sandoval, facing the champion of Río Grande, Aynara Quiroga.

Tickets will have a value of 6,000 pesos for the grandstand and 12,000 for the stalls and ring side. Today they will be on sale at the box office of the same gym starting at 5:00 p.m.

“We have already carried out the rigorous weigh-ins and everything is ready and ready to carry out this festival, which we have been organizing for three months,” Manuel Gallegos Aguila, president of the Magallanes Boxing Association and son of Don Manuel, commented yesterday.

Likewise, he emphasized that all rigorous protocols are being complied with, both at the health level and those required by the Chilean Boxing Federation. “It is important to inform all the people that no one will be able to enter without their Mobility Pass up to date”, added the leader.
