North Carolina, Charlotte- Traffic and road congestion will be experienced around the Queen City, due to the “Presidents Cup” golf tournament.

This contest will be held from today, Tuesday, September 20 to Sunday, September 25.

The authorities indicated that, although the tournament will take place at the Quail Hollow Club, which is located between Park Road and Gleneagles Rd, due to being a large-scale event, traffic will be impacted throughout the city.

Golf tournament in Charlotte, patience

The city of Charlotte reported that approximately 200,000 people are expected to arrive this week.

So it will be working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) to ensure safety and traffic on surrounding roads and visitor parking lots.

“Visitors and residents are asked to anticipate long travel times and be patient when traveling around the city, especially in the Quail Hollow area,” the City noted.

Authorities strongly encourage residents and visitors to use public transportation, shared rides, and multimodal options.

The City will provide numerous efficient transportation options for those who have tickets to attend the tournament.

Including shared ride via Uber and Lyft, a shuttle from the Charlotte Convention Center, as well as the LYNX Blue Line.

“Ticket holders traveling to the Presidents Cup from Uptown may consider the Charlotte Convention Center shuttle as the most convenient and cost-effective mode of transportation,” the City said.

There are also a number of bus parking spots around the Charlotte region, and an increase in traffic is also expected in those areas.

The City is working with Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT), Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT), CMPD, and Solid Waste Services (SWS), to coordinate service hours, impact on construction, garbage collection and transportation.
