Last Sunday the Costa Teguise Golf Academy organized the Children’s Christmas Tournament at its facilities, resulting in a successful participation where 54 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 16 participated in 5 different categories: 18 holes, 9 holes, 3 holes, 1 hole +8 years and 1 hole -8 years.
Spectacular results in the 18-hole category, which gave Diego Ceesay Miranda the winner with 55 points and a handicap drop to 30.1. In second place was Jimena Rodriguez Puerto with 51 points, giving another great drop in handicap that places it at 21.5. In third place and with 43 points was Alejandro Mendoza and with a new handicap of 22.6.
We must highlight the good results in the 18-hole scracht classification, where there is a tie in first position with 75 strokes (+3 from the course) by Juan Ángel González and the Majorera Nerea Garrido. In third place with 78 strokes was Isaac Puerto.
It was a special tournament for the club, since in the 9-hole category they released the new short course of Costa Teguise Golf, valued a month ago by the Spanish Golf Federation, which will give all boys and girls of Handicap No. National (from 36 to 54) with a more fun route, and it showed in the results.
In first position with 28 points was Agustín Pérez, showing a great game from tee to green. Lucas Hernández was classified in second place with 20 points and María García in third place with 17 points.
A lot of emotion and very tight results in the 3-hole category, leading Leo González as the winner with a total of 22 strokes. In second position just one stroke was Sofía Mendoza and in third place tied with 24 strokes Alvaro García and Lorenzo Mera.
Clear winner in the category of 1 hole + 8 years where Irene Betancort made 4 strokes on Hole 2 with a shot to the green with a masterful stroke. In second place there was a triple tie by Alba Burgos, Gerard Puig and Nathalie Hernández with 8 strokes.
And in the category of the smallest, 1 hole -8 years could not be more exciting and with a very high level. Lucas Hernández Feo was in first position with 5 strokes, winning by just one stroke and deciding on the putt to Oliver Ionete and Nicolás Rodriguez who made 6 strokes.
The awards ceremony was attended by Jose Alfredo Mendoza, Sports Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote; Monty Puerto, Vitaldent representative in Lanzarote; Esperanza Puerto, representative of Costa Teguise Golf and the two professionals of the club, Nicolás García and Javier Poladura.
