A year of ‘chachismo’ in Vigo. Eduardo Coudet assumed command of the bench Celtic in mid-November 2020 and on the occasion of this First anniversary the Vigo club has published an interview with its coach. The Chacho takes stock of this experience in the Rías Baixas both on a sporting and personal level.

Has your first year as a coach in Vigo passed quickly?

Yes, in football everything happens very quickly. We have enjoyed it and continue to enjoy it. We continue working so that things get better and better.

How much has the club changed since your time as a player?

I was there for a very short time, but there is a very big structural change with the theme of the sports city.

Is El Chacho Afouteza?

Thought goes hand in hand with what that word is. We try that the team go hand in hand with what Afouteza is and the history of the club. The idiosyncrasy of this club is to play football well, but above all to have a heart and fight to the end.

The best example was the last game.

What the team has been showing is a good example, but we want more. We deserve to be higher in the rankings. What the computer is showing does not match the score. This is not for merits, but for winning games. I am not a philosopher or a football poet, I want to win.

“We deserve to be higher in the rankings”

What is left of this year?

With the growth that I see from the squad, from the players, from the mentality. You see a team that tries to play football well and that has an idea that tries to carry it out at home and abroad. A team that doesn’t save anything, that goes empty every game. It is a bit what the fan wants to see. Obviously, we want to win more games. This weekend we have an opportunity to ratify what was seen in the last game and keep the three points.

How is your life in Vigo?

It is a city that I really like. The people are very friendly, you live and eat very well. It is very nice in all respects. I am happy here. I do not mean comfortable because it is a word that generates a bit of laziness.

Can you imagine having such a long career in the same team as your compatriot Simeone?

I wish. The reality is that one has to think about the immediate goals. In football the results send and nobody is on the sidelines.

What do you think of the new sports city?

They are first class facilities. We do not lack anything. It is a growth that will surely go hand in hand with sports and institutions. We are all on the same line. When everything is going the same way, it is very difficult for things to go wrong.
