Demian Maia is hoping to fight once more in MMA, but there is one key stipulation. The former two-time UFC title challenger is currently a free agent and not contractually attached to an organization. He is happy with what he has achieved, but would like to step into the cage one last time to end his career.

He wants to finish his career in the UFC

The problem is that Maia refuses to fight unless it’s for the UFC. He would like the promotion to sign him to at least a one-fight deal and allow him to wrap up a historic run on his own terms.

“No, I am not officially retired, in a recent interview. “I want to do one more fight in the UFC, but I don’t want to fight in any other event, because the UFC is my home. It has been my home for the last 15 years. So if I get another chance, I’d do one more fight there.”

I still train MMA. I’m still doing some boxing and Thai boxing with takedowns and this kind of thing, so I’ll stay alert if I need to do one more fight. But at the same time I’m focusing a lot on sport jiu-jitsu again, because I want to compete more in these kind of rules.”
