The 22-year-old player succeeds the Brazilian from Liverpool Alisson Becker, who was the first to receive this award, created in 2019 by France Football magazine, the same one that delivers the Ballon d’Or.

In 2020, these awards were not awarded as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. “It has been an incredible year for me,” said the former AC Milan player upon receiving the award. “We honor all Italians. I am very, very proud ”.
