Atlanta Georgia.- At 78 years old, passed away Earnie ShaverAtlanta boxer who “nearly killed” actor Sylvester Stallone.
Known as ‘the Destroyer’, Earnie Shavers passed away a day after his 78th birthday in his hometown.
Earnie Shaver shared an anecdote with the actor Sylvester Stallonewhen he was filming the third part of Rocky; For this film, the director also wanted to show real boxers, so he called the ‘Destroyer’.
In one of the training sessions, prior to filming, Stallone asked Earnie Shavers qhit him, but the boxer only threw jabs, so the actor asked for more strength and the ‘Destroyer’ hit the liver, which caused Sylvester to stop the practice.
That blow almost killed me. I went straight to the bathroom and threw up,” Stallone confessed years later.
In the end, Earnie Shavers was not part of Rocky III.
As a professional, Shavers had a record of 74 wins, 68 by way of knockout, 14 losses and one draw.. In 1977, Earnie faced Muhammad Ali and fell by unanimous decision, losing the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council belts.
