The boxer from Salta will face Juan “El Demonio” Zárate from Formosa tonight, in Santa Fe. TyC Sports will broadcast.

Boxer from Salta Mauro “Sapito” Liendro (16-4, 7 KO) will have the opportunity tonight to fight for the vacant Argentine flyweight against Juan “El Demonio” Zarate (16-4, 7 KOs) from Formosa. K.O.). The fight will take place at the Defensores de Villa Cassini Athletic Club, in Capitán Bermúdez, Santa Fe, and will be seen live on the TyC Sports and TyC Sports Play signals, starting at 10 p.m.
It is an equitable fight between two boxers who already faced each other in 2019, although at six rounds. Zárate, current No. 1 in the Argentine flyweight ranking, has faced well-known rivals at the national level. He is currently riding a two-fight win streak, defeating Jonathan Molina and José Farfán, which allowed him to win the World Organization (WBO) Latino belt and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Latin silver belt.
Among his most important victories, those achieved against Juan José Jurado, Abel Silva, Luciano Baldor, Matías Monserrat and stand out. He surpassed the salteño on the cards, in a wide unanimous decision, after knocking him down in the second round. At 32 years old, “El Demonio” will seek to recover the national belt that he had in his possession in 2019, being, curiously, the last fighter, along with Jurado, to dispute it.
Opposite will be Liendro, No. 2 of the flyweight ranking made by the Argentine Boxing Federation (FAB). The 29-year-old fighter experimented with top-tier opposition on the national level, albeit with adverse results.
In his history, the WBA Fedebol light flyweight crown that he obtained in Chile after defeating the local Ramón Velázquez stands out. In addition, the “Sapito” has three defeats at the hands of Agustín Gauto, the last being in 2019, with the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior light flyweight world title. He also added an unforgettable experience in South Korea, where he traveled to dispute the IBF intercontinental flyweight title, falling in the fourth round against Han Son Lee.
Yesterday, in the municipality of San Lorenzo (Santa Fe), the professional weigh-in of the fight for the Argentine flyweight title was held (limit 50,802 kg). Liendro accused 50,000 kg, while Zarate reached 50,550 kg.
The Salta representative is trained by José “Pilo” Yáñez and Adrián Ríos. El Sapito lives in Villa Cristina and began his amateur boxing activity in 2009, fighting 48 times, winning 38, drawing 6 and losing 4 fights. He made his professional debut in November 2016.
