ANDin the middle of the holidays half a season in Formula 1, the boss of Red Bull Christian Horner analyzes how Mexican driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez’s campaign has been so far.
I think Checo has made a big step forward. He has been much closer in the rankings than during the past year. Pole position in Jeddah was an exceptional lap,” he told RacingNews365.com.
For Horner, the balance of the Mexican is positive: “His victory in Monaco, the 1-2 finals we have achieved in Spain and Azerbaijan, his career at Silverstone and wheel-to-wheel racing… In general, he has had a very solid first half of the campaign.”
“I think this year, the team feels much more like home to him compared to when he was the new kid last year. He’s adjusting well to that,” he added.
On Checo’s dropouts, Horner said: “He’s had a bit of bad luck a couple of times, but that always balances out over the course of a season.”
