Female boxing. Santa Cruz will host the ‘Tenerife Island International Tournament’
The Sports area of the City Council, led by Alicia Cebrián, collaborates with a unique event that will bring together representatives from 11 countries from December 15 to 18 at the Pancho Camurria.
The Santa Cruz City Council, through the Sports area directed by Alicia Cebrián, collaborates with the organization of the ‘International Tournament Tenerife Island City of Santa Cruz’ of women’s boxing, which will be held from December 15 to 18 in the Pancho pavilion Camurria with the participation of representatives from 11 countries, such as Croatia, Cyprus, England, Wales, the Netherlands, Poland, Australia, Lithuania, Denmark, Hungary and Spain.
It is a unique event at the national level, in which female boxing will be the protagonist with all age categories on Pancho Camurria’s ring, both young, juniors and elite. In addition to having parallel training activities for athletes, technicians and fans. Admission will be free, except for the final scheduled for December 18, in which the donation of a toy will be requested, which will later be delivered to an NGO.
The Councilor for Sports, Alicia Cebrián, stated that “boxing is one of the sports that suffered greatly from the Covid-19 restrictions in sport. Being a contact sport, he couldn’t get going as quickly as other sports could. That’s why boxing people are looking forward to this tournament with so much enthusiasm ”.
“This time we have women’s boxing and of a very high level. Since women’s boxing became an Olympic sport, the number of practitioners increased a lot and therefore the level of boxing that exists today worldwide has increased by leaps and bounds ”, explained the mayor of Sports.
Alicia Cebrián also pointed out that “in Tenerife we have a high level, and specifically in Santa Cruz there are active boxers who get very important and prestigious titles, as is the case of Patricia Martín from Santa Cruz, who this year already won the title of champion of Spain in the 69 kilos modality ”.
The competition sessions will begin at 4:00 p.m., with free admission. The finals will be played on December 18, and entry will be through the contribution of a toy that will be donated to charities at the end of the tournament.
This event is organized by the Canarian Boxing Federation with the collaboration of the Spanish Boxing Federation, Tinerfeña Boxing Federation, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Tenerife Cabildo, Tenerife Wake Up Emotions, and the Canary Islands Government.
