Remembered for his great courage on top of the string and a punch of respect, this Friday the great Jesse Armenta passed away, one of the historic fighters of the city of Los Mochis. Second National Champion from this city.
Brother of another great home boxer such as Everardo Armenta, Jesse Armenta died of cancer and throat.
Armenta made his pay boxing debut in July 1961, knocking out Rodolfo Diaz, followed by other fierce bouts against the likes of Charlie James, Andy Heilman, Luis Santamarina, Gene Brayant, Eddie Coffey, Rafael Gutierrez and more.
His farewell to the ring occurred in March 1972 against Pat O’Connor. In total he had 40 fights.
Jesús “Jesse” Armenta, uncle of former Mochitense world champion Antonio “Tony” De Marco and Everardo Armenta Jr., leaves a great legacy in renowned Mochitense boxing. His body will be veiled at the San Martín funeral home on Rosendo G. Castro and Belizario Domínguez.
Rest in peace!.
