One of the great surprises of the season is seeing the almost manifest superiority of George Russell over Lewis Hamilton.
In his first season at Mercedes, the ex-Williams player adds 111 points in the first nine races of the season, ranking fourth in the Formula 1 World Championship above Carlos Sainz.
For his part, the seven-time champion is sixth with 77 points, far behind his teammate and giving clear notes of exhaustion and disappointment for the W13.
Such is the image of Hamilton that an entire F1 legend like Jackie Stewart has assured that “it is time” for him to retire now because “it is wiser to stop now than to go through all the pain of not being able to do what you did before “.
“It’s a shame that he didn’t resign at the top, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now,” he explained in statements collected by ‘GPFans’.
“Now he is struggling a bit because he has a new teammate who has been quicker than him in qualifying so far, which will be difficult for him to manage,” he added.
Of course, Hamilton’s great career stands out… with a certain grace: “Lewis is in that group of the Ayrton Senna and the Alain Prosts… or maybe even the Jackie Stewart.”
“I am sure he will be very successful because he has been making a lot of money, rightly so because he has been the best of his time.”
