The American captured his third title in the , by scoring an extraordinary 65-shot final round, five under par, in Texas. It was the second victory, after winning the Colonial.

Mexican defending champion Carlos Ortiz was unable to play this week due to a shoulder injury.

Kokrak was nine shots behind Martin after 36 holes; however, he racked up 270 hits, 10 under par, and took the victory by a two-shot margin over Kevin Tway (68), Scottie Scheffler (69) and Martin Trainer himself (who crashed down the stretch).

Meanwhile, in Arizona, at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship tournament, Phil Mickelson accelerated hard to take the title. The Californian veteran gave a great lesson and played his last eight holes in four under par and the 18 in six under par, signing a round of 65 strokes.

Thus, emerging from behind, the talented 51-year-old southpaw tied a Jack Nicklaus mark, as the fastest-growing players to four Champions Tour victories, with six appearances, as did the Golden Bear in 1990.

Regarding the LGPA, played in Florida, the American Nelly Korda captured her fourth title this season, beating Lexi Thompson, the Korean Sei Young Kim and the New Zealand Lydia Ko. Only one hole was enough to determine the winner of the penultimate tournament of the 2021 season, on the women’s circuit.

Sei Young Kim and Lydia Ko were eliminated with Korda’s birdie. Thompson had a chance, but was able to extend sudden death by also missing his putt.

Gaby Lopez finished tied for sixth, but jumped four places in the Race to the CME to 31st.

María Fassi finished 22nd, with 272, eight under par.

Meanwhile, at the Copa Valle de México, an event organized by the Mexican Federation, Alexa Saldaña —of the Bellavista golf club— was crowned for the second consecutive time before emigrating to collegiate golf in the United States.

She, along with Filip Jakubcik from the Czech Republic, were champions in category 18 and under. The Czech left behind José Antonio Safa, from the Torreón Country Club.

The rest of the champions were Arantza Zepeda, from the State of Mexico, and André Miguel Saldívar, from Monterrey, in the 15th and under. Romina Palmeros (Veracruz) and José Carlos López (Monterrey) won in 12-13. Nazaret Nuñez (Tabasco) and Leonardo López (Hidalgo) came out with the victory in 10-11. Lola Carrizo (Monterrey) and Óscar Olmedo (State of Mexico) dominated 8-9, while Quetzali León and Emiliano Becerril (Querétaro) in 7 and under.

I remember them, as always. that Playing Golf is … Making friends! Until next time.
