Peruvian became South American champion in a tournament. This Saturday, our compatriot took first place in the competition held at the Ecuador Amateur South American Open 2022 that took place on the Quito Tennis & Golf Club field.

According to the official information of the contest, the national athlete won the victory with 287 strokes (-1), four fewer than those achieved with the Mexican María José Martínez, who was in second place. The podium was completed by the Colombian María José Bohórquez, who came to this edition as the defending champion.

In this way, Ballesteros conquers his first South American golf. However, this is the second time that the tournament has been won by a Peruvian representative. In the 2014 season, Lucía Gutiérrez was consecrated in the championship that took place in the field of the Country Club of Barranquilla, Colombia.

At the end of the competition, the Purdue University player also spoke about the sensations that the tournament left her. “It was definitely a very difficult course, the course strategy was very key, but I am very happy with the result,” he told the Ecuadorian Golf Federation.

“It was definitely difficult, especially in the end. I got a little more nervous, the girls, not only the ones I played with yesterday and today, but they are all good. It was very exciting”, added Ballesteros in relation to the important level of competition of the other players who were in the contest.

Later, Daniela spoke about the privilege of defending the colors of . “I feel a lot of pride. Not many people have the opportunity to represent their country in these types of events. So I’m very happy and happy to be able to do it,” she added.

In closing, Ballesteros also thanked the presence of his loved ones and his coach, who helped him emotionally. “Having my coach gave me a lot of peace of mind. Very happy also to have my family here”, he concluded.
