The Estrella Damm Ladies Open, tournament of the European Professional Women’s Circuit and that It will be held from October 1 to 3 at the renovated Terramar Golf Club in Sitges (Barcelona), will put the best European professionals to the test.
An official photograph with the authorities and professional players of the Ladies European Tour who will participate in the tournament, taken on the steps of the Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, has opened the presentation of the tournament this Wednesday, which has culminated with a golf exhibition in La Fragata beach run by the Ladies European Tour players.
Fifteen of the best players on the continent have competed in a challenge in which the winner was whoever left the ball closest to the flag after executing a stroke of about 65 meters. The great novelty of this edition, the fourth of the Estrella Damm Ladies Open, has been the remodeling of the CG Terramar competition course, after last year the tournament could not be held due to COVID-19.
The original field was designed in 1927, making it one of the oldest courses in Spain, but recent work by Mackenzie & Ebert Golf Course Architects has left a impressive course of 5,996 meters and par 72.
With the latest changes on the course, there is a new par three on the 11th hole, a par four on the 12th and a par five on the 13th, while the construction of a new par four on the 10th hole is the jewel of the crown of the renovations carried out. The 10th hole, which was previously a par three, now has the added obstacle of a lake between the second shot and the green, giving a new personality to the entire interior area.
After the victories of the English Florentyna Parker in 2017, the Dutch Anne Van Dam in 2018 and the Spanish Carlota Ciganda in 2019, the twenty Spanish players present at the tournament hope to take over.
