The wait was worth it. After a two-year absence, he successfully returned to the community of Saint Charles, Missouri, to the ‘ ’ boxing event, a boxing therapy activity, whose goal is to help young people with special conditions.

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. José Jones, the former Panamanian boxer who has popularized ‘boxing therapy’ in the United States, it was possible to promote this activity in which ten young people diagnosed with autism participated.

‘Differently Capable Champions’ is an alternative to support young people and children with special mental or physical conditions such as autism, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome, among others.

“The main objective is to promote inclusion and diversity among the community, as well as recognition of those young people who have trained very hard in the gym for months,” said Dr. Jones.

At the weekend’s event, the young people who train at Dr. Jones’s gym made their dream of putting on a one-minute boxing exhibition come true, and this time their rivals were the trainers themselves.

Jones, was very satisfied with the support that the activity had, since it was attended by relatives, teachers and friends of the participants.

At the end of the evening, the youngsters were presented with champion belts as a reward for their great effort.
