Yamil Peralta is crossing out the days of the almanac. Anxiety begins to play the role of him. But the double Olympian knows that his big challenge is just around the corner.
The fight will be before his people, at home and with the entire national boxing world supporting him in his dream of winning a new crown. Next Saturday the 17th he will seek to take over the international title of the Cruisers, which the World Boxing Council (WBC) puts at stake. In the Municipal Club “Diego Maradona” of Lagomarsino he will face the Brazilian Fabio Maldonado.
“I am very happy that it is in my country, in Pilar, with my people. Everything is a plus that motivates me a lot. Hopefully with all the work we are doing we can be champions”, highlighted the boxer from Del Viso on the program Aire de Sabado (FM Plaza 92.1).
“I’m happy to have this opportunity again that we couldn’t get in Canada. We are very focused on the fight, because after Canada we did not stop training,” she added.
About Maldonado, Yamil put him among “complicated rivals.” “They are all hard to beat, but for a reason we are at this level and competing with them. But we have our thing, a boxing that is different from the category. The majority is to go straight and hit, I try to impose my strategy, my game, they are different techniques”, expressed the undefeated Argentine, South American and Latin champion of the WBC Cruisers.
“We have already been analyzing Maldonado with our team, we know its virtues and defects. He comes from the UFC, which is a different sport than boxing. He fought the best. He is a rival who has a lot of resistance, he will withstand everything I throw at him, and he hits hard, ”he analyzed the rival.
“He is a front boxer, but I am going to be calm, do my job, we will put everything that we have been working on with my team in training above the ring”, he was confident.
Yamil is not “against” the fact that Maldonado has won 27 of his 28 fights by knockout. “His record already says that he is a puncher, but I am going to do my boxing. He is 42 years old and the age difference is going to show in a long fight”, he declared.
Peralta is already focused on next Saturday’s fight. “I’m looking forward to the time,” he said.
“We work double and triple to be ready. In the previous week we are going to lower the anxiety. Let’s find our weight for that size. Today (for Saturday) we put in the last sparring in the camp, we hit it very hard, ”he described his preparation.
Finally, he dreams of a packed stadium, thanking everyone who supports him on social media. In addition, he thanked “everyone and especially Transur, with Mariana Yapur and Carlos Varela, who are always on guard with us.”
