The best Spanish player of this European Individual Men’s Amateur Golf has been Javier Barcos, in fourth position. The Navarrese was always in the fight for the title until the last day, but he was unable to add his name to the record of this tournament, where he only appears as the former Spanish winner, Sergio Garcia, the best in the 1995 edition held back then at the RCG El Prat.

After Barcos, in fifth position, another Spaniard qualified, Jorge Hao from Madrid.

Presence of four Valencians

Regarding the participation of Valencian players, four played this Men’s Individual European Championship, the best players were Carlos Abril and Josele Ballester, tied for thirty-ninth place. The other two Valencians, Carlos Balbastre and Carlos Alejandro Garre (who arrived at El Saler after proclaiming himself Absolute Champion of Spain), they failed to make the cut.

The celebration of this Men’s Individual European Championship has been possible thanks to the contribution of a series of institutions and companies united by the common interest of supporting the sport of golf, such as EGA, RFEG, Golf Federation of the Valencian Community, Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, Community of L’esport and Golf Parador El Saler.
