Joe Smith Jr., WBO light heavyweight champion, seeks to fight the man from Guadalajara

The champion World Boxing Organization (WBO) light heavyweight Joe Smith Jr. (28-3, 22 KOs) joins the list of contenders for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.


The champion World Boxing Organization (WBO) light heavyweight Joe Smith Jr. (28-3, 22 KOs) joins the list of contenders for Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

This Saturday, January 15, Smith defended his 175-pound title against Steve Geffrard, whom he defeated by knock out technician in New York, after keeping the belt, the fighter sent a message to the man from Guadalajara.

“If Canelo wants to come at 175 and fight me, I’m ready for him. That’s the fight I want. Everyone would love to see that fight. It would be great”, commented the American.

According to the boxer’s representative, , the Mexican would have expressed his intention to confront Smith, he confessed to ‘Sky Sports’.
