The Panamanian fighter joselyne Edwards will face the South Korean Ji Yeon Kim on July 30 at the American Airlines Center in Houston, Texas at the UFC 277. The Panamanian enters to replace Mariya Agapoya who was injured in training. Mike Heck Jr of MMA Fighting announced the change on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 13.
Kim was the Jewels and Gladiator Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Additionally, she competes in the women’s flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Vegas 49. Ji needs to win or he could jeopardize her stay in the UFC. She currently has a record of 9 wins and 5 losses in MMA and in the UFC 3-5.

This fight will be Joselyne’s fifth in the UFC, where she is 2-2 and 11-4 in MMA. In the UFC, Edwards won her first fight against China’s Wu Yanan by unanimous decision, then fell to Brazil’s Karol Rosa by unanimous decision and Australia’s Jessica-Rose Clark also by unanimous decision. In her last fight, she defeated Ramona Pascual by unanimous decision at the UFC 274 event.
