The Mexican Juan Toscano Andersoncurrent champion of the NBAafter winning the title with the Warriorswill be a new player of the Lakers. The basketball player’s agent Erika Ruizconfirmed the move just a couple of hours after the Association’s free agency began for the 2022-23 season.
Tuscan spent the last three years with the Warriorshis first team of the NBA. After winning the title, he will now leave the reigning champions to join the likes of Lebron James and Anthony Davis in the Lakers. This last season he had action in 73 games, in which he averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
His career as a professional began in our country. He debuted with the Soles de Mexicali, of the National Professional Basketball League, in 2015. He decided to play in the Aztec league after not being selected in the Draft of the NBA In that same year. In 2016, his adventure in the sport took him to Venezuela, to represent the Bucaneros de La Guaira. In 2016 he returned to Mexico with the Monterrey Regal Force.
So close to the border, he heard that in 2018 the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State affiliate in the G-League) would be receiving athletes in tryouts for the team. He was selected and on February 6, 2020, he signed a three-year contract with the Warriors. Since then, he has managed to stay in the NBA and even participated in the Slam Dunk Contest in 2022, also being the first Mexican player to have a place in said event.
Now, he will be the third Aztec player to play for the Lakers. He joins Jorge Rochin and Lorenzo Mata as the only Mexicans to be with the Los Angeles team, although both Rochin and Mata never saw action in the NBAonly in Preseason and Development League games.
