The Real Club de Golf La Barganiza will host the fourth round of the COPE Asturias Golf Circuit. After passing through Las Caldas, La Llorea and the Real Club de Golf de Castiello, the fourth test will take place in Siero, in one of the most established courses in Asturian golf. Fernando Álvarez, president of the club, has passed through the microphones of Deportes COPE Asturias to talk about the test that will take place this Saturday, August 27.
There is concern with the weather forecasts, after several rainy days in Asturias. “The ideal for playing golf is a cloudy day. However, a little water is more important for the purpose of getting wet than for the purpose of the game“, emphasizes Fernando Álvarez. “The great objective of any tournament is to lower the handicap, beyond the prizes that are very good in this tournament”.
As president, he is clear about the strengths of La Barganiza. “It’s a settled field. All the clubs in the bag are used, which has a lot of appeal. He has a great level, he is very well cared for and it is a great challenge to try to play under par“.
Finally, he reviewed how golf has recovered from the pandemic in Asturias and La Barganiza. “We had a drop, a negative impact due to the pandemic. However, when it reopened there were more people than before the pandemic. We have more players of all kinds, both local and away. Although there are more than 100 people playing, it is played on more than 60 hectares. There is plenty of room and that has come in handy after the pandemic,” says Fernando Álvarez.
