Unfortunate loss. Víctor the ‘rabbit’ Benítez ceased to exist at the age of 86, the Peruvian who made history with Milan with whom he won the Champions League.
The central defender who began his career at Alianza Lima in 1954, with whom he won the titles that year and in 1955, to later reach Boca Juniors between 1960 and 1962, the year in which he was national champion.
The following year he made the great leap to European football where he specifically established himself in AC Milan, a team with whom he won the ‘Orejona’ in 1963, as well as the 1962 Serie A and the 1969 Italian Cup with Roma.
The idyll with Milan is so great that he returned in 2016 after 53 years to receive a tribute for his career and even had a flag made for him at the San Siro stadium.
The end of his career came in 1972 when he wore the Sporting Cristal shirt with which he said goodbye to football.
