CANCÚN, Q. ROO.- This NBA 2021-2022 season included a new rule that limits the number of fouls towards offenses, due to “unnatural” movements, which reduced the number of free throws. Something that some players supported and even praised the league for taking these steps.

The new rule prevents offensives from throwing or leaning towards a defender at an “abnormal angle”, abrupt changes of pace that cause them to collide with defenders, hooking the opponent’s arm while preparing to shoot and taking a leg out from an abnormal angle . All to prevent players from simulating fouls through crashes.

“Can I say it was satisfying watching basketball without all those damn fees? Some cheat and catch players for fouls. I have really enjoyed watching basketball this year. I had stopped watching the NBA because there was a lot of simulation, a lot of guys cheating and winning free throws, “said Draymond Green, player of the Warriors.

Wizards player Kyle Kuzma said that “the new rules are the best thing the league has done in recent history. Watching the game is very different ”.

This change in the rules affected the performance of some stars in the face of free throws. Players like James Harden went from 8.7 free throws per game to 5.3, or Luka Doncic who dropped from 7.7 to 4.2 attempts per game.
