When it seemed that Houston Rockets Destined to complete one of the worst records in NBA regular season history, the Texas franchise has managed to surprise every fan in the league and resurrect in the Western Conference.
With the victory this last morning over the Orlando Magic, the Rockets have chained five victories in a row (they are the team with the longest winning streak in the competition after the loss of the Phoenix Suns against the Warriors). Considering they were coming off a 1-16 record, this 6-16 is a breath of fresh air for Houston’s young squad.
But this good dynamic of the franchise is no coincidence. As StatMuse progresses, the five Houston Rockets victories have come from the exact moment the team started using ‘five’ to Christian wood, pure pivot (this morning, against Orlando, 20 points and 14 rebounds for him).
The Rockets have won 5 in a row since playing Christian Wood at center.

It’s no surprise that Wood ended up becoming the leader of this team. With John Wall out of the rotation and a Jalen Green recovering from his injury, the center has to take responsibility, and he is doing so.
The playoffs away, but without stopping dreaming
Although they continue with a very negative 6-16 record, the Rockets are four and a half wins behind the Denver Nuggets, the team that marks the zone of play-in spots. If he manages to maintain this good streak, in just two weeks they will have been able to re-engage in the fight for those positions.
