Nelson Piquet offends Lewis Hamilton

The controversy reaches f1 again and it is that the three-time world motorsports champion; Nelson Piquet called “black” Lewis Hamilton in an interview last year. The word used by Piquet has a derogatory and racist component, which is why a huge controversy was triggered in motor sport.

The racist comment emerged in an interview about what happened at Silverstone last year between Hamilton and Verstappen., where both had an accident on the first lap, the Red Bull car ended up smashed against the wall; and the Mercedes was sanctioned with 10 seconds.

In the end Hamilton managed to win the race and add the points of the circuit. To said racist comment, F1 issued a statement condemning what was said as follows: “Discriminatory or racist language is unacceptable in any of its forms and has no place in society. Lewis is an incredible ambassador for our sport and he deserves respect. Relentless efforts to increase diversity and inclusion are a lesson to all and something we are committed to in F1.″.

The London pilot’s team also reported the following: We strongly condemn any use of racist or discriminatory language. Lewis has led our sport’s efforts to combat racism and is a true champion of diversity on and off the track. Together we share a vision of diverse and inclusive racing and this incident underscores the critical importance of continuing to strive for a bright future.”. Hamitlon also shared his feelings on social networks, mentioning that it was not only the word; if not the way of thinking he has struggled with all his life.
