The Municipal Sports Foundation has completed the work to replace the artificial grass on the Doctor Lluch football field (7,035m2), as well as the lighting of metal halide lamps with state-of-the-art LED technology for energy saving. The renovation of the lawn began on August 9 and has had a cost of 176,369.24 euros, while the investment in lighting has been 54,353.73 euros, which represents a joint investment to improve the installation of 230,772.99 euros . This amount is added to the 486,293.53 euros that have already been invested in other football fields in the city during the year.
The Councilor for Sports, Javier Mateo, has highlighted the investment of the Municipal Sports Foundation in 2022 to improve the state of several football facilities. “This action is added to those already carried out during 2022 with the renovations of the football fields of Pont de Fusta, Tres Creus and Beniferri; and this past month of August the works in the Estadi del Turia del Tram III were completed. The forecast of actions in renovations of grass and lighting of different football fields in the city will exceed one million euros during this period of 2022”.
At the beginning of 2022, the Pont de Fusta (5,500 m2) and Tres Creus (6,552 m2) football pitches were replaced, which had a joint investment worth 277,213.63 euros, as well as the Beniferri pitch (6,615 m2). which had a cost of 147,179.90 euros. While on August 9, the replacement of the artificial turf of the 8-a-side football field at the Estadi del Turia del Tram III (2,277m2) was completed for a value of 61,900 euros.
The Doctor Lluch pitch is managed indirectly by UD Marítim-Cabanyal. The Marítim Women’s Football Club also plays there, founded in 2002, which is one of the pioneering women’s teams in Valencia. The field is already enabled for sports practice, since the holiday period and the absence of competition have been used to make improvements. These works will allow these teams to play in optimal conditions for another 10 or 12 years, the estimated time for the artificial turf as long as the installation is properly maintained.
