A very busy football week is coming to an end in Barranquilla. It began on Monday with the tie with a taste of defeat that brought from Bucaramanga. He won 1-0 with a goal from Luis ‘Cariaco’ González, he dedicated himself to defending himself without blushing and to the clutter, and in the last breath he was punished with a goal from Carlos Henao that meant a bitter 1-1.

Then almost 200 former rojiblancos players began to arrive at ‘Curramba’, among them several legendary figures in the history of the club, for the inauguration of the Window of Champions, the monument dedicated to Junior, which the Tecnoglass company, with the Daes brothers to the head, opened on Wednesday night.

Before the ‘Shark’s Fin’ was illuminated, on the same Wednesday, the sports headquarters of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) was officially presented, with the participation of Gianni Infantino, president of Fifa; Iván Duque, president of Colombia; and Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol, among other characters from football and national public life.

Apart from those two important events, the Colombian team drew 0-0 against Neymar’s Brazil, last Sunday, and against rocky Ecuador, the previous Thursday.

Neymar left, Infantino left, the national team was dissolved, the presentation of the FCF headquarters passed and the Champions Window has already been inaugurated. Junior is still in the arena and we hope he opens the window to good football and makes us forget the defensive, conformist and opaque image that was seen in Bucaramanga. This Sunday, starting at 8:10 pm, he faces Jaguares, at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, on matchday 14 of the League.

The return of Fabián Sambueza to the starting line-up and the return of Gabriel Fuentes to his side position (against Bucaramanga he acted as a left inside) would be the main novelties in the starting line-up.

Sambueza was not 1-1 against the ‘Leopardos’ due to a virus, but he will reappear against the most outstanding felines of the championship. Jaguares, who was sixth (at the close of this edition), with the same 21 points as Junior (fifth), has been a demanding opponent, with a lot of dynamics and strength.

Arturo Reyes, DT ‘shark’, will be able to count on ‘Cariaco’ González and Hómer Martínez, who were replaced in Bumangués territory for prevention and some inconvenience, as well as Edwuin Cetré after serving a sanction date for accumulating yellow cards.

Junior needs to win to stay in fourth place and get away from the lot of teams that have been hounding from behind with little point difference.

What happened in Bucaramanga was discreet for the table and at stake, but today there is another opportunity to shine and open the window of good football.
