The opening ceremony held on Sunday to welcome the 350 riders and riders from 30 participating countries has officially given way to the FEI European Jumping Championship for riders and young riders, juniors and children that takes place at the Oliva Equestrian Center Nova Beach & Golf Resort until next Sunday, July 17.
About 500 horses compete in a great international event that will fill the facilities of the Equestrian Center with spectacle, emotion and color. It is a top-level event in which 97 children riders from 25 countries, 100 juniors from 26 countries and 86 young riders from 23 countries compete to take home the coveted medals.
The German Matthis Westendarp, champion of young riders last year, the 2021 individual gold medalist in the Children category, the Hungarian Suzhou Jr, or the Finn Hugo Kogelnig arrive to defend their European titles. In the team competitions, Belgium will defend its first place in the 2021 European Championship, held in Vilamoura (Portugal).
In addition, the British Lily Attwood, the French Amazon Jeanne Sadran Harry Allen or Max and Tom Wachman face this European very well positioned. Other well-known names that will compete in Oliva Nova are Thibault Philippaerts (BEL), Skye Morssinkhof (NED) and Eden Leprevost Blinlebreton (FRA).
Equipped with several tracks with the EBB&Flow system, 500 boxes and a wide range of experiences within the same enclosure, the facilities of the Oliva Nova Equestrian Center are excellent for the development of this sporting event.
This Tuesday will kick off the competition with the tests for juniors and young riders, while the first individual competition for children will be held on Wednesday.
The first medals will be decided on Thursday, July 14, after the team final in the junior category. On Friday comes the team final for young riders, while on Saturday the individual medals in the junior category and the team medals in the children category will be decided.
The 2022 edition of the FEI European Jumping Championships concludes on Sunday July 17 with the individual final in the categories of young riders and children.
According to the Councilor for Tourism in the Oliva City Council, Kino Calafat, “the commitment to tourism and sports contributes very positively to the tourist image of Oliva in terms of improving the brand, creating jobs and other advantages. economic and social”.
Also, as Calafat himself underlines, “Oliva is consolidating itself as the venue for major sporting events and has congratulated Oliva Nova for working in this regard throughout the year to seasonally adjust and internationalize tourism.”
The celebration of the European championship has the collaboration of the Support Program for Sports Competitions of the Valencian Community, promoted by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation.
