MEXICO CITY, September 12 (EL UNIVERSAL).- One of the Mexican drivers who has also had outstanding performances on his circuit is Patricio O’Ward, since in the IndyCar season he already managed to win two races with Arrow McLaren SP.
Thanks to his performance, he is beginning to prepare for a possible promotion to Formula 1, which is why after his participation in the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, held in California, he traveled to London to be in the simulator at the Working in order to try out with the McLaren team in Formula 1, according to Monterey County Now.
It is not the first time that the Mexican Pato O’Ward has a trial with the Formula 1 team. In December 2021 he had it and now he will have one more opportunity to prove himself, although the dream of being in the Great Circus seems distant, since that McLaren has Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for the 2023 Formula 1 season.
One of the advantages for the Mexican is that McLaren has Will Stevens as test and development drivers, who competes most of the time in Sports Cars, and Oliver Turvey, in Formula E. Both are 31 and 35 years old, respectively.
This could open the doors for O’Ward to be in the team’s reserve and aspire to the highest category of world motorsports such as Formula 1.
