Trey Lyles scored 16 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, and the Detroit Pistons posted their third win in their last five games, this time 97-92 over the Orlando Magic.

Saturday’s game confronted the two worst teams in the NBA.

After finishing 2021 with 18 losses in 19 games, the Pistons have beaten San Antonio, Milwaukee and Orlando since the New Year and improved to 8-30.

Hamadou Diallo added 17 points, while Saddiq Bey added 16. Lyles also had 13 rebounds.

Gary Harris had 28 points, his most this season, for the Magic, who have lost eight straight games to fall to a 7-33 record.

Lyles scored eight points in the first 2:27 minutes of the fourth quarter and Detroit led 81-75. Orlando edged closer to 93-92 down the stretch, but a dunk by Diallo and two free throws by Joseph combined with misses by the Magic to end the game.
