Major League Baseball. Former Chicago Cubs prospect pitcher, American Kevin Rhoderick, is one of the four leaders of stage 7 of the Professional Golf Tour season that takes place at La Villa Rica Club de Golf and Sports Center in Veracruz.
In a day that took place under a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and with a humidity factor of 67 percent, Rhoderick registered a first round of 66 strokes, six under par, like his compatriot Tate Fleming – who comes from the qualifying tournament -, the Argentine Sergio Acevedo and the Mexican Eduardo Carrete.
“It was a very solid round, I hit the ball very well especially from the tee, I gave myself a lot of birdie opportunities so I’m happy. I had the first start and I feel that the greens throughout the week have improved a lot, the course in general is in very good condition, ”said 24-year-old Carrete, who is a rookie in the Professional Golf Tour.
For his part, Sergio Acevedo, Professional of Las Aves Residencial & Club de Golf Resort de Monterrey, Nuevo León commented: “Today I had a very good start from the first leg, I played very well, I did not miss a shot, I had many birdie chances, while on the return I couldn’t take advantage of the par-five at the end, but I’m still happy ”.
Tied for fifth place with a score of 67 hits, five below par were the Mexicans Fernando Cruz Valle and Aarón Terrazas, while the member of the Korn Ferry Tour and local favorite Roberto Díaz shared the 18th place with a score of 70 impacts, two less.
“I felt really good despite that second hole where I slipped. There is no other choice but to make birdies, the field is there to catch it and you have to play aggressive, ”said Díaz, champion of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open presented by MISTRAS from the Korn Ferry Tour.
